I am going to be getting CoolSculpting on my lower abdomen and am nervous about it not working very well. Would a combination of professional microneedling treatments and Alastin Transform be okay to do on the treated area? Or would that be discouraged and why?

Answer: Coolsculpting and ThermiSmooth for abdominal fat improvement For my patients that don't desire surgery and have reasonable quality skin, we can sometimes do "Fire and Ice". This is a combination of ThermiSmooth (non invasive radiofrequency that feels like a hot stone massage) and Coolsculpting for fat reduction. Coolsculpting results may be a 25% fat reduction per applicator and sometimes two treatments need to be done in the same area for maximal results. Plus the ThermiSmooth can also be slimming with some skin improvement. Make sure to find someone with experience with layering techniques.

Answer: CoolSculpting and Emsculpt are a great combo treatment Dear hailyeah:I understand your concerns, but you don’t need to worry that CoolSculpting will not be effective. It reduces fat in treated areas by 20 to 28% in every treated patient (the higher percentage is achieved with after-treatment massage). One of the unique features of CoolSculpting is its reliability and the reproducible results. If you wish to enhance your results and help with additional loss of fat both beneath the skin as well as within the abdominal cavity, you could combine CoolSculpting with Emsculpt, which increases muscle mass and reduces subcutaneous and visceral fat. ThermiSmooth or another radiofrequency treatment like PelleFirm or HIFU with Ultherapy would tighten the skin if your problem is laxity rather than excess fat, but will not reduce fat. It sounds like you need an in-person consultation with someone who has these devices to see how you should proceed. All the best!Sheryl Clark MD FAAD
