Gynecomastia and hair loss -- DHT

Gynecomastia at the age of 12 is not related to genetic male pattern balding in your 20's.  There is no advantage of having gynecomastia unless you are trying to be transgender. It does not relate to balding.

Gynecomastia is not directly related to hair loss in the vast majority of men. Be sure to have a full assessment. Gynecomastia has many reasons- but low DHT is not a direct contributor. In general, hair transplants are not a good option for men in the early 20s at NW1 stage. Medical options for hair loss, however, are very important. Be sure to sit down face to face with a specialist in hair loss medicine. Minoxidil and laser and PRP could be options. Finasteride is an FDA approved treatment for men with male pattern balding but I rarely prescribe it in men with gynecomastia as it can make gynecomastia worse in some men. Be sure to speak to your hair specialist and gynecomastia specialist about the risks of further gynecomastia and the risk of recurrence after surgery. In general, other options are important to discuss and explore first. 

genetic male pattern hair loss is not related to gynecomastia. At this stage you need to see a specialist to find the cause and the proper treatment for your hair loss. 

Gynecomastia (breast nodules or enlargement in men) is not uncommon in pubertal men and many of these will require surgery if they do not go away on their own. This is not related to your genetic hair loss and if you see a good doctor, that doctor will probably prescribe you the drug Propecia which is highly effective in treating genetic hair loss in young men.
