Taking finasteride 1mg from last 7 months but still losing hair, what should I do?

I'm taking finasteride 1mg every day in a regular basis from last 7 months but i'm still loosing my hair day by day. In these 7 months i didn't see any visible improvement but I'm still taking it with hope. Now what should i do??

A:  In clinical trials, 90% of men respond to finasteride but there is a small percentage that does not. However it does take time and often, we recommend committing to finasteride for a 1-2 years before determining how effective it is for you.  Adding treatments to your routine such as PRP, laser therapy, or minoxidil may help as well.  In fact, there was a study that proved the combination of minoxidil and finasteride work better together than either one alone. (Dermatol Ther. 2015 Sep-Oct;28(5):303-8.Combined treatment with oral finasteride and topical minoxidil in male androgenetic alopecia: a randomized and comparative study in Chinese patients.)
Consulting with a board certified dermatologist is important to determine the nature of your hair loss before stopping or starting any medication.

Finesteride will not always cause hair regrowth; but almost always usually decreases further hair loss.

You didn't include much information about yourself or a photo.  The best way to proceed would  be to see a board certified dermatologist who specializes in hair loss.   They could evaluate your condition and make recommendations for you,  PRP treatments offer improvement for all types of hair loss.   Sometimes blood tests and or a biopsy of the scalp is needed.
