Could septal cartilage be used to straighten a deviated septum without making it larger?

I just got a consultation with a doctor for a septal/rhinoplasty and she mentioned that for my surgery she will be using septal cartilage. Is that to be considered a graft? I have also been told that the doctor doesn’t know exactly where she is going to use them until she gets into the surgery. Is that common not knowing where the cartilage will be used ? Could septal cartilage be used to straighten a deviated septum without making it larger?

Answer: Use of septal cartilage for septo/rhinoplasty
Dear Cheerful550603,
it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
