Dear Alexaselena, you should be healthy prior to elective procedures. You will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Why do you have cirrhosis at 23 years of age? Maybe if you can obtain a written medical clearance from your treating MDs for 3 hours of general anesthesia. Then I can ask my anesthesiologist if OK to offer in office surgery. Or ask my hospital anesthesia group if ok for outpatient hospital surgery. Fees double if using hospital BTW.
Cirrhosis is an irreversible end-stage condition for liver diseaseStill, this can be classified into different categories each with different life expectancy ranging from a few months to potentially a decade or longer.Patients with significantly compromised liver function can have disastrous complications from surgical procedures and should not undergo elective cosmetic surgery under really any circumstances. It’s very important the terminologies are used correctly and physicians know exactly what the implications of your liver disease means in terms of liver function. I suggest you start with your hepatologist or internal medicine doctor potentially gastroenterologist and ask them if they think elective cosmetic surgery may be appropriate. As a general statement I would say someone who has liver disease at the point of having cirrhosis is no longer a candidate for any cosmetic surgical procedures.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD

Complete examination is required by your internist, gastroenterologist or hepatologist to determine the extent of the disease and to determine if it would be safe to undergo a BBL. Medical clearance to proceed is required.Best wishes...
I would not do surgery until your a1c normalized. There is no reason to push it. Your BMI and other medical conditions can put you at higher risk for complications. I would require medical clearance prior to surgery as well. The risk of fat clot is low if you go to an appropriately trained board...
