I am in desperate need of forehead reduction with hopefully hair grafting and removal of frontal bossing. Can this all be done at once and what are the estimated cost. My hair is very fine and thin I don't know if I would be an acceptable candidate for hair grafting. Would like rhinoplasty done at the same time if possible. Would be willing to travel for the best doctor.
Answer: Hair line lowering options Hello, if you do decide to do a hairline lowering, here are some options. It is hard to find doctors for forehead lowering since they need to be experts in 2 areas. First of all, doctors need to be experts in facial plastic surgery or plastic surgery to lift up the scalp area and advanced along the forehead. The galea is released during this. A key component is hiding the scar along the border of the scalp. The second component is being an expert in hair transplantation. The hairline is lowered and the scar is camouflaged through hair transplants. Look for a surgeon specializing both plastic surgery of the face and who does hair transplants. Best, Anil Shah

Answer: Forehead reduction Tammy, I would recommend forehead and nose surgery first followed by hair grafting if needed. Reducing your brow bossing (most likely with a type 3 repair) will make a big difference. The surgery should be done through a hairline incision so that the hairline can be lowered as much as possible. We commonly do a rhinoplasty at the same time as this surgery. This combination will make a huge difference for you. Several months after this surgery you may want to consider a few hundred hair grafts (instead of the few thousand you would need to lower your hairline with just grafts) to thicken your frontal hairline and camouflage the hairline incision scar. -Dr. Rolfes

Answer: Another view would help. I'd like to see a photo of your forehead from the front. That would give me an indication of how low-sitting you eyebrows are. That way, if you need a little lift, a forehead reduction using an incision along the hairline would "kill two birds with one stone".Sadly, I do occasionally see this procedure performed using a straight line incision along the forehead hairline. Unfortunately that results in the most visible scar. I'd much rather perform a jagged incision that hides a lot better.Forehead bossing is not present in your photographs, so I wouldn't suggest treating your bone.Hair grafts might be needed, but first start with the forehead reduction.Regarding your willingness to travel, you are wise to consider your choice of surgeon to be worth the effort. I'd also suggest that you eliminate price differences among surgeons as a factor in who performs your surgery. Usually, you "get what your pay for". If you go cheap, you often get cheap. Save up the money or finance the procedure if necessary to be sure that you enhance your chances for the best outcome.Take a look at my video to help you narrow down your choices of surgeons.Best of luck.

Answer: Reducing Fontal Bossing and Hairline Lowering If you lower the hairline to the ideal position you will reduce your forehead and eliminate the appearance of bossing which does not exist. Place the surrounding hair simulating the desired hairline position and take a picture which will demonstrate what I'm saying. Consider the Irregular Trichophytic Hairline Incision technique we described many years ago which will lower the hairline in a patient like you with fine hair. A rhinoplasty can be done at the same time as the hairline lowering procedure.
