After surgery, the blood supply to your breast tissue can be reduced. When you are exposed to cooler environments, your blood vessels respond by becoming constricted. This is likely what causes the pain. If this is the case, it will likely improve over time, months, as the blood supply to your breasts normalize. With this being said, the sensation in your breasts is still altered. Do not use any external warming devices, as this could injure your skin or cause a burn. Try to avoid exposing your breasts to cold temperatures.

There are complications associated with the use of both heat and cold during the early postoperative recovery period. These should be cleared by your surgeon before initiating either treatment. Your surgeon is your best resource as to the safety and timing when considering such intervention.
