Can I use Minoxidil and gradually taper the dose and finally stop it? (Photo)

It is important to remember that gains made while using medical therapy such as Minoxidil are dependent upon continued use. Cessation of therapy is typically associated with some loss.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.

Of course you can give it a try but in my experience the instances where it has worked (usually not too effective) has been when used consistently.  And it is recommended twice each day if you do use it.

Generally, if hair loss is not due to genetics, then Minoxidil use may be discontinued after the trigger has been sufficiently addressed. However, it is recommended that you discuss these concerns with your dermatologist and develop a course of correction. In the meantime, I have included a link below with more information on hair loss due to poor nutrition. 

If one’s hair loss is not due to genetics, it may be possible to stop in the future without experiencing hair loss. Based on your photos, I can’t really be sure that you truly don’t have some element of androgenetic hair loss. Be sure to see an expert for careful measurements of density and follicular diameter. If you have evidence of follicular miniaturization, you may not be able to stop minoxidil without some amount of hair loss.

If you don't develop minoxidil dependent hair, you can stop the minoxidil. I assume that you are not balding, so why take minoxidil in the first place?
