I find that a combination of botox and fillers works great in this area. I suggest seeing an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello there and thank you for your question. It is hard to know from looking at your picture what caused this indent. It could be a line that was created from the way you are animating when you speak or some other facial movement. It could be a scar or injury, although most likely you would be aware if that occurred. There are various options. You could try skin needling or a derma pen technique to blend and soften the line; a temporary dermal filler would help to fill the crease. You may want to use both of these procedures to get optimal results. Another more permanent option as already mentioned is fat grafting to this line/crease. A board certified plastic surgeon can explain these options further and will be better able to help you with a face to face evaluation. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question and for sharing your photo. I would recommend a dermal filler to help smooth the crease between the chin and the lip. It is a straight forward office based procedure that can be done on your first visit if you choose. I would recommend that you visit with a board certified plastic surgeon who is well versed in injectables and who can also discuss with you some surgical alternatives such as fat grafting.
This is a normal anatomic line called the labiomental sulcus. It is the point at which the base of the lower lip inside the mouth attaches to the jawbone and where the chin muscle attaches as well. It frequently becomes deeper and more noticeable with age as our faces lose normal fat and the skin becomes thinner. It is easy to reduce the depth and appearance of this line with injectable fillers such as Restylane which is the treatment I recommend, although future treatments are necessary. Fat grafting works as well but is more involved, costlier, and a little less precise.
