I had silicone implants placed under muscle about 10 years ago. Exploring options for a replacement. I am now very into CrossFit and worried about recovery time for pull ups / push ups. Is there a way to reduce muscle “cutting” or whatever is done when replacing implants under the muscle ?
Answer: Quite variable This is a tough question without some additional background and pictures, to know what the original breast size, implant size, and current status is. In general, if you are looking to remain about the same size and already have a pocket under the muscle, likely no additional muscle needs to be released at all. If you are looking to upsize, depending on the shape currently and where the implant needs to be positioned, i would typically transition to a dual plane technique that would also avoid any additional muscle division. Hope this helps.

Answer: Repalcement Since the space has already been made, the muscles will not be cut to replace the implants. I do suggest not going larger for you might notice more muscle flexion. You still will have to give yourself time to heal before going back to Cross Fit.

Answer: Muscle disruption Dear Anonymous4545452, if your muscles are placed under the muscle, it is most likely that your surgeon won't need to further release pectoralis muscle. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Implant replacement Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs. However, if your breasts are high on the chest wall then it is possible to place submuscular implants without cutting the inferior edge. This may require a simultaneous lift. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Revision breast augmentation The good news is that the muscle cutting was already done and it does not need to be done again. Your recovery should be very easy, unless you have other issues you have not defined here.
