How soon after pregnancy can I begin treatment of Accutane for acne?

Question

I know you can't get pregnant while on accutane and cannot take accutane while pregnant. My question is how long AFTER my pregnancy and a safe delivery of my baby can I begin treatment of accutane for acne?

it is not known if accutane can be used during breast feeding.  but you can start accutane immediately after delivery if you want.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. If you are breastfeeding then you cannot be on isotretinoin therapy. If you are not pregnant and not breastfeeding then isotretinoin can be an option. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist to have your skin evaluated and to discuss appropriate treatment options. Take care and good luck.
