What can be done about fullness in lower face/saggy cheeks? Esp on the right near the corner of my mouth, theres a bulge that looks really bad from the side. Also, what would help with a “flat” face? I’ve had filler to my cheeks, nose & chin. Im hesitant to get buccal fat removal bc I’ve read it can make your cheeks look hollow as you age. Do I need facial lipo, kybella, facelift, facial fat transfer? Or vline surgery to fix the largeness of my lower face? I’m 26, 5’ 3” & 118lbs. Thanks!
Answer: What procedures do I need to help with chubby cheeks and my flat Asian face? (Photo) Hello CT, First of all you have a beautiful face and great skin. I would treat you with botox in your masseter muscles to thin your jaw angle, narrow your lower face) and a strong lifting filler at your pre-jowl area(supporting your natural ligaments) area and same filler to your anterior chin (to project it forward.) I would avoid buccal fat removal, Kybella, lipo, fat transfer, and facelift. If after Botox and strategically placed filler as described above, you still wished more improvement then I would treat you with a skin tightening device such as Ultherapy or Profound RF. Make sure to choose your treating physician very carefully. Feel free to contact me with any further concerns or questions or to schedule a virtual or in-person consultation at your convenience. Good luck and be well. Michael Persky, MD Encino, CA

Answer: Fat transfer Fat transfer is a wonderful way to reshape the face. The results, if performed by someone experienced, are natural looking and permanent. In your particular case, I would transfer into the jawline and midface, cheekbone, and temples.

Answer: Cheek augmentation Most patients with Asian origin have mild to moderate cheek bone hypoplasia (small cheek bones). This can be corrected with cheek implants or augmentation with fillers or fat grafts. It would be in your best interest to seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, with some experience in cheek augmentation surgery, and discuss your options in person. Good luck.

Answer: What procedures do I need to help with chubby cheeks and my flat Asian face? Even with the nicely posted series of photos only in person or virtual consults can help determine a plan to improve your facial appearances. Might offer HA fillers to cheeks, nose, etc vs surgery.

Answer: How we see ourselves Your face is attractive, appropriate, well balanced and represents your ethnic heritage. there’s nothing wrong with your face and I suggest working on acceptance rather than trying to change who you are. Lack of anterior projection with wide cheeks and the more flat Face is typical in Asian populations. Generally speaking most people find this attractive and most aspects of your facial structure is highly desirable. Wear sunscreen every day and you will stay youthful and attractive many many years after your Caucasian Friends and colleagues. Honestly I see no need to intervene in anyway. Please don’t do buccal fat removal. I’m big undoing procedures when they are clearly indicated and someone has an easy to define problem. Being an affracive Asian woman isn’t a problem it is by most standards and asset. I hope my post doesn’t come across the wrong way. I am quite serious about daily sunscreen though. If you keep going to plastic surgeons offices they will find things to do for you. Stay away from things that cost permanent changes, respect your heritage and stay true to who you are. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
