I had a rhinoplasty in 2010. I just had a baby 11 weeks ago. When I was pregnant my nose was so swollen! I did not really notice until I look back at photos now. I have noticed that the tip of my nose still looks larger and it’s uneven now. Could this still be swelling from pregnancy? I was under the assumption that would go away in the first few weeks. if I visit my surgeon, would he be able to somehow confirm this is swelling or has pregnancy changed my nose shape somehow?

Answer: Pregnancy and nose changes Thank you for your question. Our bodies go throgh major changes during pregnancy. Increasing estrogen levels during pregnancy causes dilation in vessels which causes blood flow. Therefore, swelling on the nose is very common during the pregnancy and it may take a while for it to subside. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Pregnancy, swelling, and nasal changes A lot of women gain weight with pregnancy, and this can have a pretty significant impact on how the face and nose appearSome women also develop in demand during and immediately after pregnancy. It is unlikely pregnancy is going to fundamentally change the appearance of your nose.I suggest you focus your efforts and recovery from your pregnancy and taking care of your new child. When the time is right, you can go in and get an assessment for your nose, if you would like.Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
