One areola bigger than the other, can I lighten to make it smaller?

I have one areola which is almost twice as big as the other. My areolas are very very light, is there a way to possibly lighten the one large one to make it appear smaller or is medical tattooing an option? I don’t want to go through areola reduction surgery. I scar terribly
