My belly button has contracted and formed a hypertrophic scar? (Photos)

Question

I had a tummy tuck a year ago. Everything went well with the surgery and the healing process. Over the course of time my belly button has contracted more and more. It is now to the point where i can't even fit a qtip in it w/o force. I want it fixed but bc I developed a hypertrophic scar around it and along the entire length of my tummy tuck scar, I am afraid it will just do the same thing. Will it be beneficial to get it surgically fixed or try a less invasive way of fixing it?

Hello and thank you for your question. The goal of a tummy tuck for the belly button is to look natural and have no scars on
the exterior.   You may want to consider a surgical revision. I recommend that you seek consultation with your plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Dear Evia F.,belly button reconstruction is the most delicate part of tummy tuck surgery. I spend almost an hour on belly button reconstruction so that my patients get the best possible outcome. Based on your photos, you might need a revision surgery. If you have any doubts you can always ask for a second opinion. You will get the best recommendations after a thorough examination.
