I have Lyme disease,as a result I have a facial palsy that hasn't resolved despite treatment. What can I do with Botox/fillers?

I used to be a model,it's left me very unhappy about the way my face looks.The right side looks like it's effectively slipped off my face, my smile is uneven, my mouth droops and my eye is bigger on the right.I recently had a small amount of Botox under the opposite eye and this has helped even my smile out. I've had lip fillers in past to upturn my mouth again (due to be redone) but my cheek and larger eye are still going to be a big issue. What can I do with Botox and fillers to correct it? :(

Hello athlete1, thank you for your question. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate facial palsy. Botox can be helpful in decreasing the activity of the opposite side to allow a more symmetric appearance or in the treatment of facial spasm. I recommend seeing someone experienced in management of facial paralysis and facial reconstruction to discuss some other options that you may have available. This would be best determined by an in-person consultation. Depending on the severity you may have some surgical options for improvement as well.

Botox is an excellent way to rebalance the face after nerve palsies.You will look and feel much better.Juvederm fills hollows or wrinkles and can help certain problems.I have used Botox and Juvederm in Lyme patients.Best wishes, Dr. Denkler

You need to contact your injector and research with Allergen as to contraindications.     Usually facial paralysis will improve with this approach.   We just need Allergens blessing. My Best,  Dr Commons
