Hi. I have attached a diagram showing where I have had Botox injected. I'm not happy with the outcome as now I can't close my mouth properly and my chin has shrunk in size. 25 units was injected under my chin. I've never had this amount before. In the past I've had 8-10 units to reduce the look of my chin pebbling (from lip strain). Now the problem I have is that there is a large gap between my lower lip and chin which makes my chin look really small. Why has this happened?
Answer: Botox Injections in the Chin Botox is a common neuromodulator which can help with facial lines and shape through paralyzing underlying muscles. When injected subtly into the menton or chin it can help smooth dimpling and decrease tension on the lower lip. Too much Botox in this area can lead to ptosis of the chin and loss of tone, as well as loss of function in the lower lip depressors. The good news is that these effects are transient and should last no longer than 3 months.

Answer: Botox to the Chin Botox to the chin and jawline makes the areas smaller and contoured. It can also change the mouth movement if injected at too high doses or improperly. If you do not like this look, avoid any injections here in the future. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Botox an Chin Thanks for your question. Botox is a temporary neuroparalytic that is used to eliminate wrinkles in the periorbital and forehead area. Its also works well for softening the 11s (corrugated muscle). Fillers are used to add volume to the face and also deal with dipper folds and lines such as the smile lines and marionette lines. In addition filler can be used for filling the tear trough deformity and adding volume to the cheeks and lips. Please consult with your plastic surgeon to review the best options available for you.Good Luck.

Answer: Why has Botox made my chin smaller? Hello Butterfly1983,Based on your description and the dose you recieved, it sounds like your muscles in your chin are no longer functioning appropriately. Part of the muscle in that area helps to close your lower lip. If you are unable to close our mouth properly (called oral incompetence), it usually means your dose was too high. I prefer to use the doses you usually receive to help with chin dimpling (also called peau d'orange). When the dose is too high you can have the side effects you are experiencing. And because the muscles of the chin are no longer contracting, this has likely caused some of the fullness of those muscles to go down. This is why it looks like there is more room between your lower lip and chin creating a smaller appearing chin. The good news is this is all temporary and will improve. The bad news is it will last for about 3 months dpeending on how long Botox usually works for you.In the future I'd stick with the lower dose. As you probably have seen, it can do wonders for the chin dimpling. But just like anything, if you go overboard you can get unwanted effects.I hope this helps and good luck.
