I had Restylne silk injected into my lips this past Friday. Saturday my lower lip on the left bruised and I have much more swelling on that side. Not only that but he also injected the sides of my chin with the silk and I have two hard nodules but it's more severe on my right side. Feels like a big rock on the side of my mouth. It makes it difficult to eat and even talk! Today is now Sunday and just wondering is this normal? And how long will this last and anything I can do for the pain? Thanks!

Answer: How many days does the swelling last after Silk injections in the lip? Swelling after lip injections with dermal fillers such as Silk can vary from person to person and depends on several factors, including the individual's body's response to the filler, the amount injected, and any pre-existing conditions. However, here's a general timeline for what you might expect:1. Immediate Swelling: Immediately after the injection, you will likely experience some swelling, redness, and possibly bruising at the injection sites. This is a normal reaction to the injection process and typically subsides within a few hours to a day.2. Initial Days: In the first few days following the injection, you may experience increased swelling as your body reacts to the filler and begins the healing process. Swelling can vary in intensity and may be more pronounced in some individuals than others.3. Peak Swelling: Swelling typically peaks around 1-2 days after the injection and gradually begins to decrease after that. During this time, your lips may feel more full and swollen than you expected, but this is a normal part of the healing process.4. Subsiding Swelling: Over the next few days, the swelling should gradually subside, and your lips will start to settle into their final shape and size. By the end of the first week, most of the swelling should have resolved, although minor swelling may persist for a little longer.5. Final Results: It may take up to two weeks or more to see the final results of your lip injections, as any residual swelling continues to diminish and the filler settles into place. At this point, you should have a better idea of how your lips will look long-term.Keep in mind that everyone's body reacts differently to fillers, so your experience may vary. Additionally, proper aftercare, such as avoiding excessive pressure on the lips, staying hydrated, and following any specific instructions provided by your injector, can help minimize swelling and promote optimal results. If you have any concerns about swelling or other side effects after your Silk injections, be sure to contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
