Indented scar from infected ingrown hair (Photo)

Question

I had an infected ingrown hair on my inner thigh that I picked at with tweezers (this was around 6 years ago) and I still have the scar. I'm looking to get it removed what would be the most effective treatment or procedure for this type of scar?

At least from the photo provided, the scar looks like a narrow ice pick-type scar. If this is indeed so, then simple TCA CROSS, which I have been performing for ice pick scars and dilated pores for well over two decades with gratifying results in all skin types, would be a simple tried and true approach for treating it.  Surgical removal is likely to result in a larger, stretch scar and even with the development of tram track stitch marks. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.
