Hello, I have a round white and indented scar..sort of like a pockmark the size of a pencil eraser. It began as a boil then it turned indented and lost pigmentation.It is about 23 years old and i wanted to know if there is an effective scar cream/serum that may fade it or is surgery my only option to remove it? How much am i looking at price wise for removing it?

There are two issues here. One is the indentation of the scar and the second the loss of pigmentation. Subcision, which I have been peforming since 1995, is a simple and relatively inexpensive procedure for elevating and smoothing all kinds of indented scars that has a proven record of safety and efficacy. Manually performed Dermastamp microneedling (no need for the additional expense and risks of RF microneedling) supplemented by the application of prescription pigment enhancers, such as lanatoprost, can then be used to restore pigmentation. Revision surgery, on the other hand, especially in an area subject to a great deal of static tension, such as the dorsum of the nose, runs the great risk for the subsequent development of an unsightly stretch scar and tram track stitch marks. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.
