Is a septoplasty likely to improve my breathing? (photos)

Hi and thanks for the question and for including an image of your CT scan. Your septum is severely deviated and I would expect that a septoplasty would make a big difference to your nasal breathing in addition to an inferior turbinate reduction (the turbinates are what temporarily shrink when you use the decongestant). This is also something likely covered by your insurance. I would recommend seeing a Facial Plastic Surgeon or a General Otolaryngologist (ENT surgeon). Best of luck!

Good Afternoon! The CT scan you've shown is very helpful. You have a significant, leftward deflection with a bony spur and compensatory hypertrophy of your right inferior turbinate. If you've failed conservative management, you may be a great candidate for septoplasty and possible turbinate reduction. Both surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and the recovery is mild. I would expect that you have great improvement. I would seek consultation with an ENT or facial plastic surgeon with an ENT background to help with this issue. Best of luck!
