I was wondering if it’s possible to do renuva before fat grafting. Does renuva work if you inject it in places with little to no fat (in the case of overly aggressive lipo) since it was made to help correct dents. Since fat grafting needs host tissue, wouldn’t doing renuva treatments (in the case that they do work even with multiple sessions) make it possible to fat graft into places that had little to no host tissue?
Answer: Renuva without liposuction and fat grafting We always use Renova with liposuctiion, even if we do not remove much of fat tissue. Decision how to treat particular patient and problem, including use of Renuva, can be made only on the basis of in person evaluation; seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, familiar with this technique. Good luck.

Answer: Non-surgeons inventing surgical techniques I suggest letting the drivers do the driving and the operators design the surgeries. If anything is ever proven to work well consistently it immediately becomes the standard of care. Renuva has not. Adding more avascular foreign body will not improve fat transfer success rates. Focus all your efforts on finding the surgeon with the most experience and recognize that fat grafting requires multiple rounds done six months apart if there’s insufficient post tissue to support the amount of graft needed. There are very intelligent highly experienced people who do this for a living and they are the ones who develop improved techniques. My best recommendations is for patients to focus on what they have control over and that is provider selection. Make absolutely sure you’ve consulted with enough providers and that does consultations or thorough and showed a sufficient number of quality honest and accurate before and after pictures to know what you’re getting into. That was true for your first procedure and it’s true for revision surgery just as well. Pick the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of properly vetting plastic surgeons before committing to permanent and irreversible operations. Do that by having multiple in person consultations at which time you should ask each provider to open their portfolio and share with you their entire collection of before and after pictures. being shown a handful of sample pictures which most likely represent the very best results is not sufficient to get a clear understanding of the average results or how much experience a provider actually has. Providers may be reluctant to do this especially those lacking experience and competence. That is a telling sign that you should make a note of when you compare providers. continue having consultations until you feel very comfortable you found the most talented and experience provider. This is the single most important variable and always will be. It’s never about the equipment, it’s never about the new technology, it’s always about being in the hands of an honest skilled and experience provider. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
