Hi, I would like to know whether I can have a hair transplant given the following circumstances: 1. For a traditional (head) hair transplant, would the use of Nizoral 2% shampoo and be a contraindication to the transplant? 2. I have a chin implant which extends along the jawline. Would it be a bad idea to have hair transplanted to the beard area as the procedure would involve working closely to the chin implant? Thanks
Answer: Beard transplant Greetings,The chin implant will not pose any problems for you with regard to a beard transplant. Generally speaking, all topical products should be discontinued for 3 weeks or so following a transplant. Good luck!

Answer: Beard transplant No contraindication at all. The depth of a beard transplant is significantly more superficial than the location of the chin implant, and in fact I have done similar cases as yours. As far as using Nizoral 2% shampoo, I would likely recommend that you not resume the use of this after the transplant for the first 3 weeks.

Answer: Hair transplant and chin implant None of the above conditions prohibits you from going forward with a successful beard transplant.Simply refrain from using the Nizoral shampoo for 3 weeks following the surgery.Hair follicles are placed just a few mm below the skin and pose no threat when the patient has chin implants.

Answer: It is safe! Chin implant is not a contraindication to beard transplant. Chin implant are fixed deep to the bone while beard transplant is located superficially. I would advice you to discuss this case with your hair transplant surgeon and follow the appropriate post care after beard transplantation. It is safe to have a beard transplant even if you have a previous chin implant. Chin implants are fixed deep to the bone while hair transplants to the beard are placed more superficially. I would advice you to discuss with your hair transplant surgeon and follow the appropriate post care after beard transplantation. For the usage of Nizoral shampoo, it is safest to resume after at least 2-3 weeks after hair transplant.

Answer: Beard transplant after chin/jaw implants Chin/jaw implants are not a contraindication to having a beard hair transplant. Choosing a hair transplant surgeon who is familiar with chin/jaw implants ie a Plastic Surgeon might be advisable. You should always ask your hair transplant surgeon about post operative graft care and scalp hygiene including shampoos/conditioners as some doctors are very particular about what products can or can’t be used over certain timeframes.
