Answer: Does hair grow back after traumatic loss? If the hair follicle has been destroyed by trauma (accident, surgery, burns) then it will not grow back. This is known as secondary scarring alopecia. If the root of the hair has not been damaged the hair may grow back but may not start to do so for 3-4 months when it comes out of a resting or 'shocked' phase.if the root of the hair follicle has been partially damaged then the hair may grow back but not as strong as before.Furthermore, if there is thick scar tissue that the hair is growing through it may affect the quality (and sometimes the colour) of the hair. All of the above applies to eyebrow hair as well as scalp hair, and hair on other parts of the face and body.
