Itchy belly button 7 months after umbilical hernia repair. What is this? Is this normal?

I had my umbilical hernia repaired at the end of July. Recently, my belly button becomes very itchy and when I use a Kleenx to dab it, it has discharge that smells. What is this? Is this normal?
