34 y/o mother of 2, can umbilical hernia repair remove loose skin around the navel and reverse outward belly button?

Umbilical hernias are quite common and occur in the setting of a previous surgery, pregnancy, or diastasis recti. We treat umbilical hernias with or without correction of diastasis recti using a combination approach that corrects redundant skin in the lower abdomen and around the belly button. If there is a lot of skin, we would use a tummy tuck scar whereas smaller corrections can be performed using just the belly button incision which is well hidden inside your belly button.

Hi jo_toronto,Unfortunately, an umbilical hernia repair will not address the loose skin and stretchmarks. This problem is seen commonly after having several children. An abdominoplasty will address the problems you have....meaning we can fix the umbilical hernia, remove a lot of the stretch marks in the lower abdomen, repair the diastasis (or separated 6 pack muscles) and remove the excess lower abdominal skin. We also do quite a bit of liposuction if you need it. Again, think about what you want. The hernia can be repaired but this won't address the other concerns. Also, I would wait to do anything until you have completed your family...if you are contemplating more children. I hope this helps. Good luck!
