I am a 35 year old african american woman. I have 3 kids, I am 5'7, and I weigh 159. I have an umbical hernia. I had emergency hernia surgery in 2016. I had a small mesh put into place. After surgery I still had a bulge. I also was told I have a 3 finger diastasis recti gap. It looks like my bulge is getting bigger as I try to work out. I had a laparoscopic hernia surgery scheduled. I put it on hold. Should I get the hernia repair or tummy tuck/hernia repair?!

Answer: A tummy tuck and hernia repair can be done at the same time
Umbilical hernias are quite common and occur in the setting of a previous surgery, pregnancy, or diastasis recti. We treat umbilical hernias with or without correction of diastasis recti using a combination approach that corrects redundant skin in the lower abdomen and around the belly button....
