After a new crown placement there is a slight gum recession which I did not have before. Should I blame the dentist for that?

The crown is on a lower molar. The old crown was PFM while the new is porcelain with zirconia. I remember that he took impresions for doing the temporary without first removing the old crown, is that acceptable? Thanks.
