My scars behind my ears were open for at least a month. The stitches were taken out after a week after a deep plane face and neck lift. As my scars healed they continued to look awful and now the scars are hypertrophic and tight and uncomfortable. They are now under my ear lobes and seem to be getting bigger.

I'm sorry that this has happened to you. Anytime that there is surgery performed that requires stitches, particularly in places under static tension or subject to a great deal of movement, there is the possibility for the development of stretch scars, hypertrophic scars, stitch tracks, etc. Such scars can cause pain, discomfort and uncomfortable tightness, as in this case. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist to discuss the use of intralesional injections of anti-inflammatory agents, such as triamcinolone, betamethasone, 5-FU in order to shrink and flatten the scars to improve their appearance and to eliminate the tightness and discomfort.
