Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. Before jumping to more surgeries (which can be costly & may even leave you with even wider stretch scars and even tram track stitch marks, you might consider a consultation with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist to discuss the use of intralesional injections of anti-inflammatory agents to shrink and flatten what appear to be hypertrophic scars. Such injections typically, not only shrink and flatten the bumpy scars, but eliminate the pronounced reddish-purple discoloration that is prominent (turning the flattened scar off-white to ivory colored) and making it less prominent color-wise, as well. I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery.
