Chin Implant Approach - benefits and risks of the intraoral approach?
For years I’ve been wanting a chin implant due to a recessed chin, and I had my consultation this week. I’ve done quite a bit of research and noticed that most surgeons perform the incision under the chin, but the surgeon I consulted with places the incision inside the mouth. I didn’t question it at the time because I was nervous and had assumed it would be done under the chin. From what I understand, the intraoral approach can carry a higher risk of infection and may be more technically challenging in terms of placement. Other than avoiding an external scar, are there benefits to this approach? Hes a well known surgeon with 20 years experience and has very high reviews. I have seen before and after for the chin implant, but its only a handful.
