I'm just wondering if it is still possible to have surgery so my eye doesn't look sunken in.. (my vision is fine) I didn't have the surgery because I was too scared then and now i hate the way I look. I've read that they usually like to do surgery 2 weeks after injury but didn't know if it was too late now. I also still have a bump in my cheek it was a blood clot they said it would go away but never went away completely. Can someone please help me out?
Answer: Sunken eye after an old fracture Surgery to correct the sunken eye appearance is possible even two years after the fracture. You will need a CT scan of facial bone to see exactly what type of fracture you had and whether the bump on your cheek is related to a zygomatic bone fracture in addition to the orbital blow out fracture. Depending on the size and location of the orbital fracture an implant can be placed to cover the defect and restore the volume of the the orbit. If the defect or hole is too big full correction may not be possible. Make sure to discuss with your surgeon the possible complications that can result from this surgery.

Answer: Late facial fracture repair Late fracture repair is certainly an option although it is more difficult. It is most important to understand the exact position of the eye and the extent of the fracture. This procedure is commonly performed by oculoplastic and orbital surgeons. CT Scan and complete orbital exam will be performed before moving forward with surgery. There are many qualified oculoplastic and orbit surgeons in OK and Northern Texas. Vikram D. Durairaj, MD FACS.
