Thank you for your question. It really comes down to your goals and expectations. However, if you're looking to shorten the length of your upper lip and are okay with a small scar hidden under the nose, then I believe you'd benefit from a consultation with a surgeon who performs lip lifts. All the best!-Dr. P
I would highly recommend getting a formal evaluation with and treatment from a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and expert in facial sculpting. Technique is the key to a successful lip augmentation with fillers, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. An experienced physician will be able to determine which filler, how much filler, and which technique will give you the subtle result you're looking for. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Lip lifts are typically performed for 3 reasons: to improve dental show, to shorten the distance between the nose and the red portion of the upper lip, and to increase fullness of the upper lip. It was originally intended for older patients whose lips lengthened with age. However, some people are born with a naturally longer upper lip and recently we’ve seen an increase in lip lifts performed in younger patients. If upper lip volume is your only concern, you could try filler which is temporary and reversible. If the other areas mentioned above are important to you, a lip lift would be reasonable but given your age I’d recommend a conservative amount of skin be removed.
A skillful, experienced injector using an appropriate cohesive HA filler can nonsurgically define the upper lip vermilion and not only provide upper lip border definition, but a bit of a lift, as well. A few microdroplets of Botox may also be placed in the region for additional lip lift effect. Make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Hope this helps and best of luck.
A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. You would benefit from a lip lift.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. It appears that you may be a candidate but best to be seen for an in-person consultation to get the best advice.
Based on the posted photos - YES! Fee $2,500 includes lip lift + BOTOX lip roll injections. Best to virtual consult with... This is usually done under local anesthesia with or w/o IV sedation.
Dear alycattttttt,Thanks for asking this question. You are a good candidate for a lip lift. A lip lift will help shorten the distance between the base of your nose and the top of your lip. It would also increase the dental show at rest. A lip lift is done under local anesthesia (~60-90 mins), or can be done with sedation. It is a permanent procedure. The incision is placed under the nose and heals very favorably if done by an expert. Social downtime is 1-2 weeks because of lip swelling. The results are immediate. Notably, 1) shorter distance from the base of the nose to the top of the lip, and 2) increased red lip show at rest. I recommend you see a board-certified facial plastic surgeon like myself. I hope this helps! All the best,Dr. Sanan, MDAkshay Sanan MD Facial Plastic SurgeryDouble Board Certified
Hi there! A lip lift is a great option to improve show of the red portion of the lip and to shorten the white lip. An incision is made below the nostrils and base of the nose. A certain amount of skin is removed and suturing allows the above to be created. The scar can heal very well in many cases. This provides a more permanent option over something like filler. It does not increase volume - rather, it creates the illusion of a more full upper lip. Seek consultation with a facial plastic surgeon who is proficient at lip lifts. Hope this helps you!

Hi there! The problem you've identified can definitely be challenging. The area to the side of the mouth is called the modiolus and is where all the muscles for smiling insert. Sometimes, buccal fat removal can assist with reducing the volume of the cheek and subsequently allowing the perioral...
