Can this mole/blemish be removed? (photos)

Is this a mole or is this something else? I've had this blemish for 8 years now, I am currently 19. This black mole like blemish is quite small but large enough so you can see it from quite a distance and it is also raised. So I'm curious to know if it can be removed, because it is very embarrassing and makes it harder to talk to people knowing they're staring at it. Also if it can be removed, how would it be? Would I have to get surgery or is there another option?
