Mole on end of nose (Photos)

Question

I have a mole on the end of my nose that I'd really like to have removed, but I'm afraid of having a big, noticeable scar. Would you remove this and if so, how would you do it? Thank you for any advice.

The mole on the end of your nose appears to be raised.  If this is the case, it could be shaved off and should not leave a big, noticeable scar after it heals.

From the photos, I would not recommend removing this mole.  It is skin colored and blends in well with your nose.  Since it is not well defined (i.e. not hanging off your nose), it would be difficult to remove that without leaving a scar or an indentation which might look worse than the mole itself.  Even with the best plastic surgeon there is no way to remove it without a scar, and the angles of the nose and the mole itself will make it more difficult to do it in a satisfactory manner.

Moles like yours that are sightly raised on the end of the nose can be easily removed using a "shave excision" method. The mole is actually "shaved off" at a very superficial level just below the surface of the skin. This method is quite effective to remove moles and generally leaves a minimal scar. The procedure typically takes less than a minute, and is fairly painless. Moles that are removed in this fashion will rarely recur enough to be bothersome. The tissue that has been removed can then be sent for microscopic examination to make sure the mole is benign. Dermatologic surgeons are experts at doing this procedure.
