I realize whiteing a crown will not change the color they are made, but using a whitening toothpaste on your crowns will remove coffee and tea stains from them. Is that not correct ?

If the fracture is purely esthetic (ie. porcelain) and does not affect the margins or the integrity of the crown, you do not need to replace it. If you do need to replace it, I would suggest getting a metal occlusion instead of a porcelain occlusion.
