I had tumescent lipo on arms/inner and outer thighs/flanks/and abdomen. Everything is ok except my belly which is extremely hard bloated looking and very bumpy, feels like thick lines under my skin. One love handle is much pudgier then the other. I am concerned that this will not go away in time. I had very little fat to remove and my stomach is bigger and uglier then it was before. It's only been 2 weeks. The garment is pretty loose, I have massage once a week, walk about 3.5 miles a day.
Answer: Swelling after Liposuction--After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen Swelling and/or firmness is typical, and can last 3-6 months after your procedure. Because your garment is loose, I recommend following up with your Doctor about getting a compression garment that fits. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Hardness, Unevenness Expected Soon after Liposuction #liposuction 2 weeks after liposuction isn't a lot of time.It is not uncommon, actually, to see some patients develop more swelling the second week after liposuction that they may have had the first week.Almost always, the asymmetry, lumpiness, and bumpiness resolve completely by 3-6 months. Definitely consider discussing your concerns with your plastic surgeon, as he/she will likely be able to reassure you.

Answer: Hardness after liposuction This can be very normal after liposuction but it is hard to evaluate without pictures. Typically there is a significant amount of swelling which can cause lumps and bumps afterwards.Your compression garment should help decrease the swelling. As the swelling decreases, the lumps and bumps also decrease and usually go away completely. It can take up to 6 months for the swelling to decrease and see your final results but the lumps and bumps typically go away well before that point. Talk with your surgeon if you have concerns. If your garment does not fit, you may need a smaller size. Good luck!

Answer: Swelling If your garment is loose, ask for a smaller size. Massage can be very helpful with managing the swelling. However, you are very early in the healing process and will take up to 6 months to completely heal.

Answer: Hardness You are very early in your recovery process with only being a few weeks out from your procedure. Swelling is usually the worst at this point in the recovery process. The majority of swelling after liposuction usually decreases over the first three months so it is not surprising that you still have swelling. You can also still have some minor swelling for up to a year following a procedure. In order to aid in reducing the swelling faster, continue wearing a compression garment on your lower half. Since your garment is loose, I recommend following up with your physician to get you another garment that fits you better and provides you with proper compression to aid in your recovery. Some of my patients have found it helpful to use a rolling pin over the affected areas twice daily to even out the bumpyness and help to redistribute the remaining fat. Most people notice that the hardness and swelling resolve with time so be patient and if you are still experiencing problems after a year contact your physician to determine their specific recommendations. If you notice an increase in swelling or pain over time be sure to follow up with your plastic surgeon.
