Single implant on short root - thoughts? (photos)

I recently got cosmetic crowns done. One premolar got loose, dentist thinks because root is short, removing and putting new crown risky. He wants to do single implant but price tag is really high. Thoughts?

Hello, yes, root seems to be short, we suggest having a Ct scan done to check height and width of bone and relation to sinus membrane. Extraction can be done and implant and bone graft placed at the same time, after 4 months of healing and integration a new crown over implant can be placed.

Your premolar is certainly short, a new crown will probably not solve the problem. You can consider wearing a night guard during sleep to eliminate clenching and grinding which could contribute to the looseness, also having the dentist check your occlusion to make sure the crown is not out of occlusion or hitting too hard which can cause looseness. An implant is one way to go and should give you years of function. I see from your radiographs you also have crowns and bridges; you could consider placing a bridge in that area, cost wise the bridge and implant are roughly the same and I would lean for the implant.... try adjusting the occlusion and wear the night guard and see what happens.
