Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. Thanks for the question and I understand your concern. We know from countless research articles published in the scientific literature that early intervention with scars is the key to getting the best long-term result.  The idea of waiting 6-12 months is not a good idea. There are numerous options for minimizing the indentation, including fractional laser resurfacing, radiofrequency microneedling, photodynamic therapy and dermal fillers. Subcision could also be an option. Schedule an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist that specializes in scar treatments for a personal assessment and treatment plan that will meet your specific needs best. 

It is best to be patient and no worry at this early time since 80% of depressed scars fill in nicely within 1 yr and you see a big improvement after 3 months.

Hi and thanks for your question.  After the fact it is not that helpful to comment on different ways that the mole might have been removed and even whether it should be removed but...  At this point I would certainly give it more time and even begin gently massaging the area.  If in 6-8 weeks it is not significantly better there are many modalities that could be considered including dermabrasion, fractional resurfacing, subcission, etc.
