7 months post-op my nose has gotten bigger. I am anemic: does my low iron slow down the healing process or is it just swollen?

Hi so i got my rhinoplasty 7 months ago. My nose was broken since i was little so they had to fix that and made my nose slimmer. I got the surgery when I just turned 18 and I have been anemic since 14 years old I think. when they took my cast off my nose was really slim but a little swollen the surgeon said it was going to go down after 6 months. It has been 7 months but it just got bigger. I now have a bulbous nose. Does my low iron slow down the healing process or is it just swollen?

Hello,Thank you for your question. Some photos could give a better idea. It might be swollen as the healing process takes at least a year depending on the type of skin. Recovery changes from patient to patient, therefore I would reccomend you to fix your health issues. Certain massage techniques might be helpful. But it has to be discussed with your surgeon. Thanks for your question. Without before and after photos, it's impossible to answer your question. The most important thing is that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon. It may be part of the healing process, or they may want to start you on some additional treatments such as injections or massage. Warm regards.

Anaemia should not generally interfere with healing, unless the anaemia is very severe.  The swelling post rhinoplasty is slow to to settle and can sometimes take upto one year to fully resolve. So you can wait a little longer, but if ongoing concerns, please consult your surgeon.
