My teeth ache a lot post rhinoplasty, what are the recommended pills?

post rhinoplasty my teeth have been aching bad, it’s been 3 days so far but i wake up constantly because of them. i took tylenol but it doesn’t help. i don’t know what to do.. also my stitches keep burning me

Tooth discomfort after nasal surgery usually comes from the nasal branch of the maxillary nerve. It will resolved over the next few days slowly. There is no specific treatment for it (think of it like a prolonged version of the sensations you get when your arm or leg falls asleep). You can try to ice the area below your nose. If it's very severe, you can ask your surgeon if they would consider a neuroactive pain medication like Lyrica or Neurontin. Warm regards.

thanks for your question. This can happen if you had a septoplasty with your rhinoplasty. It is temporary and should be much better by 1 week. The prescribed pain medication or Tylenol should be enough. You can speak to your surgeon if the pain continues. Good luck!

Dear Gregarious4616, I would see your surgeon for a follow up appointment and discuss your concerns. He/she knows best what techniques were used during your procedure. I have performed rhinoplasty surgery for over thirty years and I have not had a patient complain about their teeth aching. A tooth guard is used to protect your teeth during anesthesia and perhaps you have some aggravation from that or you may have a secondary issue causing the tooth ache that needs addressing.
