Is genioplasty to move chin up & forward 4 to 5mm possible?

Hello, I'm a 33 year old male, I'd like to know if it's possible with genioplasty to move the chin up and forward (up 3-4mm and forward 4mm)? I think it'll give my face better proportion as I have a pretty flat chin. How feasible is it? risks? Is it better to see a maxillofacial surgeon for this?

The benefits of a sliding genioplasty include moving the chin in multiple directions. The movements that you want are very easily accomplished with a genioplasty. The surgery is performed in the office with intravenous anesthesia and does not affect your bite or require braces. The majority of our out of town patients return home the following day.

Yes, you can move a chin up 3-4mm. Beyond 5mm starts to get a bit more challenging, but rarely is it necessary. Forward 4mm if you are going up 4 may be a bit on the softer side, but could tell better with pics. Like most things it is striking the balance of proportion, so you want to work with someone who specifically deals in this area. When you are working in a world of millimeters when it is your face, a CMF provider is often going to be the best option. What I recommend for anyone is to find someone you can easily talk to (communication is important), who understands your aesthetic concerns, and has the experience working on the chin in more than one way (not just implant, genioplasty, jaw surgery, but all of the above).
