Can an at home whitening kit with LED light harm my permanent retainer?

I recently got a at home whitening kit that came with a small LED light to help the whitening process. I have a permanent retainer and I was wondering if the light would harm my retainer or the glue. Thanks!

I would suggest asking your dentist that provided you the light and kit. Most dentists wouldn't recommend a treatment that will harm any of the work in your mouth. If you bought this of the internet I can't give you any opinion as I have never seen a dentist dispensed that had  an LED light.

Great question... they don't harm your teeth or your permanent retainer. You should ask your dentist this question. I'll bet he has never heard that one before and he/she should inform other patients with a permanent retainer that it is safe. Good luck with your whitening!Hank D. Michael, DMD
