Recently had gum surgery & 4 temp veneers on front. Had next 4 filled as wan’t going to get veneers done but due to obvious size difference these will now get comp veneers. Issue is didn’t get incisors so canine moved across (years ago). Hate fact I’ve 4 wide front teeth, veneers make it look more obvious. Spoke to dentist and about reducing width of incisors but he’s worried about exposing root. Can anything be done before final ones fitted. So conscious of this - looks all out of proportion.
Answer: Correct number of teeth important when doing veneers The only way to make this "close to perfect" (perfection cannot be a goal) is to do 8-10 veneers. This allows teeth to spread out size over several teeth and not just a few. Start with a mock-up or diagnostic wax up to determine final outcome, and when YOU agree with the look, the treatment can start.

Answer: Wide teeth for the smile Thank you for your question.Missing teeth and the following 'camouflage' of other teeth to look like missing teeth is always a compromise to correcting a complicated situation. I will list the alternatives, which because of where you are right now may be involved, but it is still good to have them on the table.Veneer more teeth to spread the extra space over more teeth. You will need your dentist to ask the technician to wax up how this will look when 8 or 10 teeth are veneered so you are happy with the resultMake the front 4 teeth longer, this will correct the proportions of the teeth so they do not look too wide. However, your back teeth may no longer meet. You will need to see a dentist who is trained in these methods e.g. Dahl technique which is a simple orthodontic style movement of the back teeth.Make the canines a little less bulky (this involves more drilling). This will allow them to better follow the curve of your arch.As someone who has already had orthodontic treatment, you qill understand that only full veneer options are quick, but not always the best option.Good luck with discussing this with your dentistThomas Dey, BDS, MSc

Answer: Wide Veneers This is always a tough dental scenario. Without more pics (intra oral and extra oral) it is hard to be precise but the front 2 teeth look slightly short and adding more veneers or crowns to the back adjacent teeth could balance the symmetry better.I would typically start with a diagnostic wax up on models of your teeth and then transfer that to composite veneers onto your teeth to adjust for best result. Finally transition that into ceramics for durability and a higher esthetic result.

Answer: Sometimes the means justifies the end! I have a saying in my practice,”when it comes to cosmetics do it right or don’t do it at all”. in order to give you the result you want with porcelain veneers those cainine teeth must be adequately reduced. The way to do it is to the root canal in the cainines, place fibercore posts and then prepare them for veneers. You should also do 8 veneers instead of 4 to get the right size proportion.
