Does a nondisplaced fracture cause a bump automatically?

Question

Hello, i broke my nose 3 weeks ago even though i didnt bleed and i had no pain and the swelling was very slight. I made a ct scan just to make sure it wasnt broken but it turned out i had a non displaced fracture, im worried its gonna mess up with the shape of my original nose, my ENT told me not to worry and that my nose will resorb into its own original shape but i fear she only told me that to reassure me.I wont have any surgical procedure if it changes ill accept it i only hope it wnt change

Good Afternoon! If the nasal bones are not displaced, chances are there will not be a significant step-off or bump. Some will develop an inflammatory reaction but it's usually with more significant trauma. I would continue to monitor your nose for any changes over time. Hope this helps!

Generally, nasal trauma will lead to an immediate change in the appearance of somebody's nose and sometimes to somebody's breathing. If you have been one month after trauma without a significant change in your nasal appearance, it will likely remain as it is. I hope this is helpful! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

The final shape of your nose depends on the way your nasal bone heal. Sometimes a bump or a dent forms especially when the fractured bones are displaced.
