Am I healing ok?

Hello,Thank you for your question. Here in our office we perform laser assisted liposuction and traditional. Patients that have the laser assisted perform do tend to notice almost a sunburn like feeling inside. The laser that is used safely heats up the skin and fat to help the skin tighten and the fat to liquefy to help with contour (especially in previously operated patients). Even in our patients that have the traditional liposuction they can tend to notice the burning sensation as the nerves and body are healing. The inflammation that is experience during and after liposuction can make it tender to the touch inside and out. We recommend gentle massage while moisturizing to help with this swelling and to help the body recognize the feelings of stimulation are normal.Hope this helps.

Some feelings of burning sensation is normal after liposuction. How long it lasts will vary from patients to patient and with different techniques.

Burning feelings are the result of heat based liposuctions that melt fat to remove it, like Smart Lipo.  Occasionally other types of liposuction will have burning sensations but usually just on the skin and usually soon after the treatment as the nerves recover. If the pain is bad enough, medications that treat nerve pain can be useful for control.  Check in with your surgeon if you need help with it.
