2.5 weeks ago I got a breast augmentation. My pregnancy test prior to the surgery was negative. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant and worried that my growing breasts will ruin the procedure and it won't heal properly.
Answer: Pregnancy post Breast Augmentation surgery Since the effects of pregnancy are so different, it is hard to say if after pregnancy and breastfeeding a patient will need revision breast implant surgery. Some patients see very little change at all in their breast tissue and skin laxity while other patients see significant increase in size and ptosis of the breast skin and tissues.Maintaining a healthy weight during pregnancy and limiting the amount of time for breastfeeding can reduce the risk of ptosis, however it is not a guarantee. As far as the pregnancy affecting your healing, your surgeon may want to modify certain medications given with concerns of affecting the fetus, in addition since you were pregnant at the time of surgery it would be wise to seek the advice of a high risk OBGYN.

Answer: Pregnancy after breast augmentation I have had this happen in a few of my patients as well. I find that the healing should not be significantly impacted. The breast augmentation result will be altered in some way as your breast will go through many changes over the next year. Some of my patients find that their result appears more natural after breast augmentation and pregnancy. You may want to consider using good support and keeping your breast (and abdominal) skin moisturized during this time to help the skin elasticity.Of course you will want to discuss this with your surgeon during your next follow up as well.Best wishes,Michael J. Answer: Breast augmentation and pregnancy Sorry to hear about the timing between the breast augmentation and pregnancy. Unfortunately, your breast will go through a lot of changes during pregnancy and after the birth of your child, and even more should you decide to breast-feed. I would definitely let your plastic surgeon know, as they may help guide you on what to expect throughout your pregnancy.

Answer: Pregnancy and breast aug. Thank you for your question. With pregnancy and breast feeding almost always comes changes to the breasts. Many women end up with saggy and/or deflated breasts as a result of the changes. All you can do is wait until that point, but keep in mind that you might need another surgery down the road to correct for the effect pregnancy and breast feed has on you.All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
