Why do I have severe tooth pain 5 weeks after filling?

Thank you for your question. It is true, some feelings do take that time to resolve sensetivity. I would consider checking your bite by your dentist. It might be slightly off. Adjusting the bite might resolve the problem. If not, this tooth may need a root canal therapy.Best of luck.

It sounds like the discomfort is coming from the deep filling.   Does the pain linger or go away immediately .If there is severe hot/cold pain that lingers  a root canal may be needed.  If the pain goes away immediately and it is livable , you can wait a little to see if the pain subsides.

Hello,It would seem to me that you need a root canal (endodontic treatment) on the tooth that was recently filled. I am not sure if #4 is part of the problem? There could be a need for more than one root canal at times.A cavity forms slowly over time, and is the reason it often doesn't hurt until a filling is placed. The reason is that the filling takes out all the cavity at once with instruments that can aggravate the nerve inside the tooth.If the pain intensified, not improved, after 2 weeks it should be evaluated like the prior answer states.
