Why do I have severe tooth pain 5 weeks after filling?

I was told I had a large cavity in my back top right tooth and had filling done 9/28. 2 weeks after, I had severe pain. I was told I need a crown on a diff. tooth (tooth #4) and that was causing my pain. I didn't believe it,went back and they blew air around. It wasn't until it hit that back tooth that I felt extreme pain. I was told it's normal and can take 3-4 months to go away. I've never had this level of pain from a filling. And I don't have pain from tooth that 'needs crown'. Any advice?
