Can a crown be put on teeth with receding gums?

I have receding gums on lower front teeth. Can I have longer crowns put on to cover the recession without gum grafts?

The answer is yes, of course if the tooth needs a dental crown, can be placed where there is recession of the gum, however it all depends on how many milometers of recession?Best dental treatment would be a gum graft, specially if it is in the aesthetic zone, meaning your front teeth region before placing your porcelain crown.In the back teeth region if the patient absolutely refuses to have a gum or gingival graft, the cosmetic dentists use pink porcelain at the region of recession depending again on your lip line and how much of the tooth is showing, to mimick the root surface, and it will not be that obvious to the eye !A before photo would be helpful !Best of luck!

Depending on how far the recession is, the answer is it depends.  A gum graft may be the better option from a health point of view

A crown can be placed on a tooth with receding gums, but will result in an elongated tooth which would not be very cosmetic. You would be better off with having some gum surgery to deal with this problem.

yes they can, but the only thing is that cosmetically they will look long, and if you do not want this , then the gum surgery would be your best option, sometimes, doing crowns on anterior teeth, require root canals and posts, due to the length of the receding gum, and the position of the lower anteriors,
