Hello, I am unhappy with my chin. Always have been. The more I search, I just can't tell what's wrong with it. I used to think it was the cleft that bothered me but now I think I might have a weak chin. I read on this site that if you place a pencil on your lips straight down and your chin doesn't touch then it's a recessive chin. Well, that certainly is the case for me but I just can't tell if that is the issue. Please help. I just want to love the chin I'm in!
Answer: Weak Chin? Aesthetically speaking, I wouldn't describe your chin as "weak". Based on idealized proportions, you are correct that your chin does not meet an imaginary line drawn from your lower lip. However, this is just a guideline and the appearance of your chin does not jump out at me as something that should require aesthetic intervention.

Answer: Weak chin? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Weak chin From the profile photos, you have a very feminine chin with a slightly convex profile. Most women want that look. From the frontal photos, I see a more square chin that appears less feminine. I would recommend finding an injector in your area who can place HA reversible filler in the central portion of your chin. This will give you a slight amount of additional projection but also make your chin more rounded.... therefore more feminine. I would avoid surgery.

Answer: Weak chin? Based on these photos I would not consider your chin weak. However, in person evaluation will give much better chance to evaluate potential deformity and suggest appropriate treatment. Consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in chin surgery and facial rejuvenation should be your next step. Good luck.

Answer: Do I have a weak chin? From the side profile photograph, there does not appear to be a weak and recessive chin profile, so its best to leave well enough alone. For many examples of before and after chin implant patients, please see the link and the video below
